Six original tracks played & recorded in true DIY fashion live in one room on an analog Tascam 38 eight track tape recorder.
The philosophy used here: keep it simple, less is more. That's why we used only one microphone to record the drums.
That's why we all play live in one room, in one take. No computers during the recording & mixing process. Just live organic music.
Analog tape, analog vinyl.

Introducing South of the Border
South of the Border is a band of six skilled and sensitive musicians, open to all sorts of styles.
They have been around for some time in Belgium's pop, rock & jazz scene.
Tom Callens brought them all together to play his compositions and view on music.
The music is original, always melodic and rhythmic, influenced by North & South American and African culture.
In it lies both tradition and awareness of today's music.
Still it reminds of the sixties and seventies, when music was still vibrant and alive.
Since 2009, South of the Border have been playing regularly in their experimental playground, the music café "Charlatan" in Ghent.
In doing so they have conceived an original sound which instantly warms the heart and moves the feet. Some Influences: Ry Cooder, Los Lobos, Ennio Morricone, Professor Longhair, Daniel Lanois, Luiz Gonzaga, Fela Kuti, Sly & the Family Stone, Bob Dylan, Sly & Robbie, Stax & Atlantic R&B, Colombian Cumbia, Brazilian Baião
